Joseph is a native of Nova Scotia and studied in Canada, the United States and the Middle East. He was ordained 2002 in the Diocese of Albany, NY where he served as chaplain at SUNY and theologian-in-residence at Trinity Church, Plattsburgh. He served as rector of Saint Andrews, Douglas, GA before coming to Ascension in 2009.
His wife, Angie, is from St. Martinville, LA where they live on the Bayou Teche with their two sons, Andrew and Aiden. He enjoys traveling, reading, kayaking, and cooking with friends and family.
Brandt came to Ascension from Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he served as the Curate at Canterbury Episcopal Chapel and Student Center at the University of Alabama.
In 2012, he completed the Master of Divinity degree (cum laude) from the General Theological Seminary in New York City, for which he wrote the thesis Time’s Prisoner: The Right Reverend Charles Colcock Jones Carpenter and the Civil Rights Movement in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. He is currently undertaking D.Min. studies at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Brandt is a current contributor to Covenant, the weblog of the Living Church Foundation. As a musician, his interests lie in 1930s-1950s instrumental jazz.
Lauren is Teaching Chaplain at Ascension Episcopal School. She has an M.Div. and an STM from Trinity School for Ministry, located in Ambridge, PA. She contributes to theological blogs: Mockingbird and Key Life. She has contributed work to three publications: The Gospel According to Pixar (Mockingbird, 2010); Comfortable Words: Essays in honor of Paul F. M. Zahl (Pickwick Publications, 2013); and Never Satisfied Until Satisfied in Thee: Finding Grace in Hamilton (forthcoming, 2017).
She and her husband Daniel are parents of their two boys (Quinn and Jack) and their daughter (Liza).
Palmer is Lay Teaching Chaplain at Ascension Episcopal School and serves as Lay Minister to young families in the parish. He comes from Alabama where he earned a M.Div. from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham and served as a youth minister at Cathedral Church of the Advent.
Palmer is married to his wife, Hayley. He enjoys reading, traveling, sports and outdoor activities.
