Morning Prayer May 10, 2020
This week, Bishop Owensby announced that parishes may return to gathered church worship provided the Governor’s Stay at Home order is lifted May 15. All public services will need to conform to state and diocesan requirements for public health. This week, Ascension’s vestry will carefully consider these matters as well as a timeline to resume public worship. We will share this information with you as soon as possible.
With the advice of medical professionals, Church of the Ascension is already planning changes to our services and service schedule to reduce (not remove) risk of COVID-19. We have also sought professional guidance on cleaning our church for the health of our parishioners, volunteers and staff. We need small teams of volunteers who can help prepare our church nave between services. If you would like to help, please contact our sexton, Elmer Slagle, email@example.com.
This week, Ascension introduced two virtual fellowship gatherings using ZOOM: Coffee with a Cleric, Tuesdays at 10 am, and Wine Wednesday at 4 pm. If you would like more details or want to participate, please refer to your May edition of the Tidings newsletter which is also available at the parish website.
We are grateful for the mutual support that so many have demonstrated throughout this challenging time. Your compassion, patience and perseverance strengthens the body of Christ. We all hope to gather together soon. In the meantime, we share this Sunday’s Morning Prayer service with meditation to aid you as you celebrate the Risen life of our Lord.
Yours in Christ,
