Morning Prayer May 3, 2020 and May Tidings

This week, Governor Edwards announced a projected Phase One to reopen Louisiana on May 15 provided certain criteria for public health are met. Soon after this, Bishop Owensby stated he will announce when parishes might resume gathered public worship. Church of the Ascension is already planning changes to our services that might reduce (but not eliminate) risk to our parishioners for COVID-19 when we resume public worship. We will communicate these changes with you in the coming days.

If you haven’t received your copy of the parish newsletter, The Tidings, it is attached below and available for download from the parish website here: May 2020 Tidings This month’s edition provides information of opportunities for online fellowship for those interested. Please email me if you would like to participate in any of these online meetings.

Tomorrow is Good Shepherd Sunday which celebrates Jesus, our Shepherd King, whose flock still follow his voice wherever he leads, whether that be green pastures or death valley. As King David poetically put it, “I shall fear no evil, for you are with me.” Our Morning Prayer service and meditation are attached and available at the website. And for those wanting online Morning Prayer, Bishop Owensby will lead this service Sunday, 10 am on FaceBook. Please see the Tidings for further details.

Soon we gather again around the table to celebrate the body of Christ as the body of Christ. Until that time comes, we grateful for your patience, cooperation, and prayerful support. In the meantime, we remain in your service as much as you are in our prayers. And, as always, please contact us for any pastoral matter.

With the hope of the Risen Christ,

The Rev'd Joseph Daly
