Since its first kindergarten class of 1959, Ascension’s parochial school has grown to become one of the finest in Louisiana. Ascension Episcopal School is committed to educational excellence in a Christian environment for students of preschool through high school. Recently, our school board defined our governing philosophy with these words:
At Ascension, we seek to provide a balanced liberal arts education, offering diverse opportunities for the whole child in academics, athletics, arts, and acts of service. As a Christian school where God is celebrated at the center of Life, we welcome all as God’s children who are called to model the life of Jesus, the source of grace and truth. We want all students to discover their potential, develop their unique, God-given gifts, and be shaped into men and women of character, so that they may know the Truth, love the Good, and serve God and neighbor.
Ascension Episcopal School is our parish’s largest outreach ministry, and a central part of our community and mission. Many parish families send their children to school at Ascension, and we provide a modest tuition discount for church members. Our Christ-centered parish school welcomes students from all faith backgrounds, and of course our church welcomes families who send their children to Ascension School and those who make another choice for their education. We are always seeking out ways to work together as one Ascension family growing together in Christ, through opportunities such as women’s gatherings, classes for marital enrichment and parenting, youth and children’s programming, service projects, and mission trips.
We recommend Ascension Episcopal School’s extensive website if you would like to learn more. There are always AES students and parents in the congregation on a Sunday, and they would be glad to tell you all about why they love our school!
