At Ascension, we believe that all of us are called to grow deeper in our life of Christian discipleship, by God’s grace. We offer a number of ways to grow in your understanding of the Bible and the Christian faith, to apply your faith to daily life, and to grow closer to God through community and prayer.
Adult Sunday School
Ascension offers a variety of adult Christian Education classes, both on Sundays from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. and throughout the week. Sunday offerings change seasonally but generally include Bible study, Rector’s Forum, discussion groups, and an Inquirer’s Class for new and renewed members of the Episcopal Church.
We offer varied opportunities throughout the year to gather in small groups to grow as disciples of Jesus and support one another in the life of faith. Recent offerings have included book discussion groups, Bible studies, and video-based studies by Tim Keller. Questions? Would you like to join a group, or start a new group? Contact Fr. Jordan ([email protected]).
Intercessory Prayer Group
Led by Elizabeth Hesterly and Pam Capell, we are dedicated to praying for the needs and concerns of the Ascension community as well as for whatever the Lord has placed on our hearts. Would you like to join? Questions? Contact Pam Capell ([email protected]).
Lyle Parratt Lecture
The Rev’d Lyle Parratt was a much beloved priest who served Ascension faithfully. This lecture series in his memory has drawn lecturers from around the world to preach and teach in our community. Recent speakers in this series have included Dr. James D.G. Dunn, the Rev’d. Dr. Kamal Farah, the Rev’d. Dr. Peter Walker, and Dr. Scott Hafemann.
At various times throughout the year, we offer these opportunities to rest, breathe, and learn how to incorporate our whole selves in the practice of Christ-centered prayer and meditation. Questions? Contact the Rev. Emily Hylden ([email protected]).
